Their objective was to elevate the guest experience, streamline operational efficiency, and safeguard data security.

Objectives:

The primary objectives of implementing a private wireless network were as follows:

  1. Enhanced Guest Experience: To provide seamless, high-speed, and reliable internet access to guests across all hotel locations, ensuring a delightful and memorable stay.
  2. Improved Security: To safeguard guest data and protect the network from potential cyber threats, by creating a secure and isolated private wireless network.
  3. Operational Efficiency: To streamline hotel operations by enabling staff to communicate efficiently through the network and access real-time data, leading to better service delivery.

Implementation:

The implementation of the private wireless network took place in several phases:

  1. Assessment and Planning: The Hotel collaborated with the Horizon Powered to assess the existing network architecture, identify vulnerabilities, and formulate a comprehensive plan to address the hotel’s specific requirements.
  2. Installation and Configuration: Horizon Powered partners installed the necessary hardware, including access points, switches, and routers, and configured the network according to the pre-defined plan.
  3. Testing and Optimization: Rigorous testing was conducted to evaluate the network’s performance under different conditions. The network was optimized for seamless coverage and maximum bandwidth utilization.
  4. Staff Training: The hotel’s IT team and hotel staff underwent training by trainers to familiarize themselves with the new network system, troubleshooting common issues, and ensuring efficient utilization of the network.

Solution:

The Hotel partnered with a leading network infrastructure provider to design and deploy a state-of-the-art private wireless network. The solution included the following key components:

  1. Wireless Access Points (WAPs): Horizon Powered provided enterprise-grade WAPs throughout the hotels to ensure comprehensive coverage. These WAPs were strategically placed in guest rooms, lobbies, restaurants, conference halls, and other common areas to provide uninterrupted internet access.
  2. Network Segmentation: Horizon Powered integration partners segmented the network into different virtual LANs (VLANs) to separate guest traffic from internal hotel operations. This segmentation enhanced security by isolating sensitive data from public access.
  3. Strong Encryption: To protect guest data and prevent unauthorized access, Horizon Powered wireless devices provided encrypted network using the latest security protocols, such as WPA3 (Wi-Fi Protected Access 3).
  4. Centralized Management: Horizon’s Device Management Solution (DMS) was added to all TR-069 devices on site, allowing the IT team to monitor network performance, troubleshoot issues remotely, and apply updates seamlessly to Horizon and other TR-069 devices on the portal.
  5. Load Balancing: Load balancing algorithms were deployed by the Horizon partners to distribute network traffic evenly among different access points, ensuring optimal performance and preventing congestion.
